Chronic Fatigue See www.energy-body-work.com for much more on this...
Chronic Fatigue is on the increase, along with a number of other depleted energy conditions. The sufferers of these conditions are subjected to various indignities including disbelief, suggestions of malingering and plain bewilderment. Mainstream science and medicine can't seem to help them. Why not?
While very effective in crisis management, surgery and chemotherapy, medicine finds it difficult to treat conditions which have to do with living systems, systems animated by living energies. In other words, medicine is a product of the west's materialist worldview, which says essentially that physical matter is all there is, that there's no such thing as life force, energy, spirit... So the human being is seen and treated as a complex, soft machine.
The Energy ModelCFS is a condition which demands a deeper view, it requires an understanding of energies. All cultures have had some form of energy model (acupuncture, for example) except the west. But interestingly, our very materialism is forcing us to pay attention to the question of life. For more on the Energy Model, see various places in this website, including here.
A Genesis of CFSI'll offer a brief overview of what I see as some of the causes of CFS, but please bear in mind that this does not pretend to be the final word, and that CFS can be improved at other levels of intervention (diet or counselling, for example).
The symptoms of CFS are a strong, intelligent message from an intelligent energy system, that is, the human body-mind (or ‘energy body’). It is the best response that the body can have under severely trying circumstances.
What are those circumstances?Typically, a sufferer's history of a sense of powerlessness and hurt has led slowly but surely to a powerful clenching within the body, often beginning in early childhood in pre-verbal years, and often a response to what is felt to be incomprehensible treatment by parents and significant others. There are many different individual stories leading to this clench, but it is often the only protest that is available to the child, and it becomes entrenched and unconscious - that is, it becomes an automatic body response to stressful situations as life goes on
This clench slowly but surely suffocates the life force of the sufferer, reducing elimination, lessening circulation, interfering with breathing, bruising the organ systems, interrupting the flow through the energy pathways of the body, leading to energy depletion and a reduction in the efficiency of the immune system, among other effects. The body becomes liable to host more fungal and yeast-like life forms.
Emotionally there is at the same time a desire to 'try harder' under a regime of surveillance for which nothing ever seems good enough. So the sufferer, in a brave attempt to gain approval, keeps pushing him/herself past the shrinking energy limits imposed by the inner clench. It is a kind of ecology of diminishing returns as the person tries harder and harder while clenching more and more strongly, leading to a tendency to ignore the body's signals, such as rest! relax! stop! etc.
Eventually the body revolts against this regime, and partially shuts down. This is the beginning of CFS, a condition designed by the body to make it impossible any longer to exceed the body's limits.
What's to be done?In general, a re-acquaintance is required with the body and energy system, in order to learn what messages it is sending. This can be done in many ways, depending on aptitude and will. However, the ability to tune in, listen, and focus on feeling and body signals is very important. This can be done with bodywork, meditation, yoga, walks in the country, the Focusing technique and so on. What's important is to take the body seriously and respect what it has to say, taking responsibility for your whole living system, not just a part.
There is also a re-building of the 'energy body' which has become necessary. Anyone suffering from CFS has an 'energy body' which has become run-down and 'threadbare'. Daily practices are required which can help rebuild the energy, practices such as stretching, light exercise, concentration exercises, self-massage and so on, under the guidance of a practitioner who understands energy work.
In parallel with the 'listening' described above, a new relationship with the body becomes possible, in which it finally becomes an ally in living this life rather than a burden.
On a biological level, an investigation into the state of one’s ‘biological terrain’ is crucial, as the understanding of Pleomorphism shows that the body’s terrain becomes liable to host the more yeast– and fungi-like forms that bacteria and viruses can develop into. This can be reversed with oxygen/ozone therapies, herbal remedies, use of the SCENAR device (Russian electro-medicine –ask us about this) and other life-affirming therapies.
